Factors affecting college student's intention to use social networking sites for job search - A case study of linkedin in Vietnam
Abstract
This paper investigates the factors influencing the intention of Vietnamese college students to use LinkedIn for job seeking. Guided by the Behavioral Reasoning Theory (BRT) and Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB), a research model was proposed to tackle the issue. This study has conducted a quantitative approach to analyze data from 309 respondents. Those were college students who already heard about LinkedIn in Ho Chi Minh, Ha Noi, and Da Nang City. The results were examined by descriptive statistics, reliability and validity test. The study applied the partial least squares structural equation model (PLS-SEM) to demonstrate the research model and hypotheses. The finding suggests that Reason has the most significant impact on Intention, followed by Attitude, Perceived Behavioral Control, and Subjective Norm. Also, the study’s result also points out that the career-oriented feature of LinkedIn makes it a reliable social networking site for students to use in terms of career development. This research contributes to the field of human resource management and recruitment.
