dc.description.abstractIn the period where high usage of Technology and Information plays a significant role in how to develop and maintain the stable flow and growth of businesses, Information Technology human resource market places itself in high demand with great variety of working opportunities. However, that leads to a negative reality due to the increase of the Job Hopping phenomena within the industry. This study aims to investigate how IT employees build up their actual behavior of job hopping coming from the aspect of emotional experience throughout their work and how they support the motives of leaving in two different facets: Career advancement and Workplace escape. The number of 214 responses were collected by online survey only from IT employees in mostly Ho Chi Minh city, Vietnam. The data was analyzed in quantitative method using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) to illustrate the research construct and hypothesis. The findings reveal the significant affect from Workplace escape motive that leads to the Behavior of Job Hop, where Career Enhancement motive shows the opposite side – an insignificant factor. The result also pointed out the effect of indebted obligation within the industry that the more employees endure exhaustion, the more they feel they need to stay in the current position as well as proved the supportive of job satisfaction that can improve Normative Commitment. This study make its contribution and recommendations to human resource management in Information Technology industry.
