dc.description.abstractThis work examines the relationship between corporate social responsibility (CSR) and employee engagement (EE) in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. The scopes of CSR are composed of activities directed to employees and government. At the same time, in this study, we checked whether 2 sets of factors (1st: workplace policies, training and career development, employee’s needs; 2nd: paying tax and conforming to laws) have influences on CSR in terms of employees and government respectively. We gathered data by conducting online and printed survey from local and foreign employees of organizations and companies on their perceptions of activities linked to CSR undertaken by their managers. There were 323 qualified responses from participants who have been working in Ho Chi Minh City. Also, we measured 2 dimensions of employee engagement: organizational and job engagement. We investigated how these facets of employee engagement are linked with perception of employees of the firm's activities related to CSR, handling for the types of firms and the types of employees (local or expatriate). The results indicate that the first set of factor related positively to CSR to employees and has an indirect impact on EE whereas the second one also has a positive effect on CSR to government and EE. Most importantly, CSR towards employees and government are related significantly to two aspects of EE.
