The Moderating Impacts Of Personality On The Continuance Intention Of Users Toward Mobile Wallets In Vietnam
Abstract
The revolution in mobile technologies has paved the way for many payment methods with greater convenience, particularly in mobile payments. In particular, there has been increasing popularity in the use of mobile wallets (m-wallet) as replacements for traditional payment methods. Numerous studies have presented extraordinary findings of several behavioral constructs’ impact on the adoption, and continuance intentions towards the use of m-wallet, yet these studies have not highlighted the moderate impact of individual personalities on their continuance intention of the electronic wallet. Moreover, the surging development of m-wallet in Vietnam is still in its beginning phase. Therefore, along the lines of expanding the knowledge of customers’ behaviors regarding m-wallet and the rising presence of m-wallet in Vietnam, this research will be conducted to investigate the
moderating impacts of Personality on the relationship between Attitude towards using and Continuance Intention of Users toward m-wallet in Ho Chi Minh City. The TAM and Five Factor Model have been adopted as the theoretical framework. The empirical outcomes of this research conclude that all personality traits including Extraversion, Neuroticism, Agreeableness, and Openness to new experience, with a single exception of Conscientiousness, have various moderation effects on the relationship between Attitude towards using and Continuance Intention of Users toward m-wallet. Relevant implications in terms of theoretical include solidifying the adoption of the Five-Factor Model into the field of technology behavioral intention, particularly in m-wallet, whereas in terms of managerial, this study would support m-wallet service providers and managers to understand more about the impact of personality traits on mobile wallet continuance intention, laying new foundations for the development of versatile mobile wallet services to improve their foundation plan and administrations to hold clients.
