Effect Of Government Support And Environmental Regulations On A Firm's Green Intekkectual Capital, Open Innovation And Green Innovation: The Mediating Role Of Green Intellectual Capital And Open Innovation
Abstract
This research uses a quantitative method to investigate the impact of
government support (GS) and environmental regulations (ER) on green innovation (GI).
It explores how these factors influence green innovation by considering the mediating
role of green intellectual capital (GIC) and open innovation (OI), employing the
Knowledge-based view theory. The researcher conducted a survey-based study, using the
convenience and judgmental sampling technique to collect responses from 508 managers
and staff working in processing and service companies. The collected data were analyzed
using a statistical method called partial least squares structural equation modeling (PLS
SEM). Apart from GRC and GSC, the results demonstrate a positive relationship between
GS, ER, OI, GHC, and GI. This implies that these factors can effectively stimulate GI
within firms. Moreover, the study identifies the mediating role of OI and GHC,
suggesting that the government can promote GI by implementing supportive policies and
regulations that foster Open Innovation and the development of Green human capital.
This research is the first of its kind to integrate ER, GS, and GI while considering the
mediating effects of OI and GHC within an integrated framework. By employing the
PLS-SEM approach, it provides robust empirical evidence regarding the impact of GS
and ER on the GHC, GRC, GSC, OI, and GI of firms. Additionally, the study contributes
to the existing theory on GI and enhances our understanding of the mechanisms by which
GIC and OI act as mediators in the relationship between ER, GS, and GI, particularly in
the context of Vietnamese consumers.
