dc.description.abstract | E-commerce, despite being one of fastest growing markets with rapidly growing demand in Europe, is still young and new to Vietnamese market. Due to the differences in culture and human perspective, legal system, technological level,
available infrastructure and facilities, doing e-commerce in Vietnam encounters some difficulties. Being a new foreign-invested online venture operating in retail market, company A cannot avoid facing challenges and problems. In order to get rid of those problems and achieve business improvement and development, it is need to review on the company’s current situation, identify the problems and define their causes to
propose better solutions.
To study company A, both quantitative and qualitative approaches are used.
Quantitative study takes in the form of collecting and interpreting secondary data and records from company. Looking at the data, the current situation of the company is revealed, performance is evaluated and problems are discovered. After that,
qualitative study through primary information from interviews would be useful in defining the causes of the problems, who caused and which actions caused them. Acknowledging about the problems as well as their causes, appropriate solutions are tailored and proposed for improvement.
With the data on returns and delayed orders provided by company A, facts were realized that returned items increased overtime with four main reasons, which are
Defective, Under-expected products’ performance/ operation, Damaged, and Wrong
product delivery. Moreover, despite the decreasing in the number of delayed orders as
well as in delivery time, order process time increased meaning that more time was
spent on confirming and fulfillment. After the deeper study on these problems through
in-deep interview with company’s employees, four main reasons were defined, which are bad suppliers’ relationship; human errors; complicated procedure and ineffective communication; and disadvantaged facilities. Also based on the results of the study, solutions were proposed for improvement, coping with three main fields: Supplier management; Human resource and Operation. Detailed suggested actions and
practices within these three sections were developed to mutually capture the one or more of the problems in one way or another.
The study has provided a good chance for the company to review its performance without interrupting business conduction. The results concluded are also closed to the observation from the beginning when a need for study was recognized. Keeping the company’s objectives and strategies in mind, together with the understandings on its current operating process, adjustment and changes should be made eventually and in respective to what have been built and in placed so far. By doing so, normal business
operation can be maintained with no sudden or conflict intervention. | en_US |
