The relationship between extracurricular activities and IU student's achievements
Abstract
The study is conducted to observe the participation in extracurricular activities of International University students, examine the relationship between extracurricular activities and student’s achievement in International University as well as the benefits of these activities.
After some concepts discussed, this research focuses on three main kinds of extracurricular activities currently in International University. Those are sport, art, and skill activities. A survey was finished after that and 200 questionnaires were encoded and analyzed with SPSS software. The results give information about the observation of participation in extracurricular activities of International University students, the relationships between extracurricular activities and student’s achievement, especially GPA.
From the findings, student could easily recognize a range of benefits of extracurricular activities involvement. Besides that, the research suggests that even though participating in extracurricular activities not affected to students GPA, but students should still participate in the extracurricular activities because it brings about many benefits. In addition, student should spend about two hours to four hours per week to involve in extracurricular activities. By this
way, their skill, relationship, intrinsic values improved.
