dc.description.abstractThe domesticated pigs (Sus Scrofa domesticus) are known to be descendants of the crosses between European wild boar and Chinese pigs. Here, in Lam Dong province of Vietnam, indigenous pigs in which their phylogenetic relationship have not been genetically characterized, In order to find out the genetically related family of these local creatures in Lam Dong province, we extracted and analyzed their mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) cytochrome B sequences. Based on our data, we found that Vietnamese breeds are closely related to Asian-types ancestor with the average genetic distance (±SD) was only 0.00015 between groups. However, the indigenous pigs of Lam Dong area are shown distinct different from European- types pigs with the estimated divergence time lead to 372.000 YBP (years before present). Moreover, certain haplotypes (VDP8, VDP12, VDP13, VDP18) were collected from different part of Lam Dong province showing the same specific variable positions (724, 725, 726), which suggested the high possibility of that their ancestor were originated from the same breed.
