dc.description.abstractCurcumin (Cur), a natural polyphenolic compound extracted from the rhizome of the herb Curcuma longa exhibits low anticancer activity in vivo due to its poor aqueous solubility and instability. As Gold nanoparticle (AuNPs) have been proven to be an effective delivery system with few side effects for anticancer drugs, in this study, functionalized gold nanoparticles was used as drug carrier to improve the hydrophilic and bioavailability of Curcumin. Polyvinyl pyrrolidone (PVP), a common used water soluble SRO\PHU DQG &KLWRVDQ D ³JUHHQ´ polymer which derived from crustacean shells were utilized to functionalize the AuNPs. The particles were characterized by UV-visible spectroscopy, transmission electron miscroscopy (TEM), transmission electron microscope (TEM), fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR). The results indicate that curcumin was successfully conjugate to functionalized AuNPs and the conjugated curcumin was soluble in water. The in vitro cytotoxicity evaluation of AuNPs conjugate Cur against MCF-7 cancer cell line was measured by SRB method. Keywords: Gold nanoparticles, Curcumin, bioavailability, cytotoxicity.en_US
