Assemblages of myxomycetes (slime moulds) associated with agricultural and forest floor litters in Lam Dong and Binh Duong Provinces
Abstract
The aims of this research were to investigate assemblages of myxomycetes associated with forest floor and agricultural litters from various locations in southern Vietnam and initially study effects of medium compositions and cultivation conditions on cellulase production of some selected myxomycete species. Samples were collected from 6 study sites for moist chamber preparations. In total, 8 species of four genera were recorded. Among these, Arcyria cinerea and Perichaena depressa were the most common species. Otherwise, study on cellulase production of different myxomycete species showed that two out of four studied species had ability to degrade cellulose which were Metatrichia vesparia and Steminotis sp. Medium compositions and cultivation time were optimized for cell growth and cellulose production of Stemonitis sp. The obtained results showed that rice bran with a concentration 20 g/L and 24 hours of incubation are optimized for both cell growth and cellulase formation in three factors effect on cellulase production.
