dc.description.abstract | The medicinal plant used in this proposed research is a major component of
a homemade medicine, which has been passed for several generations in Nguyen
family (Ho Chi Minh city, Vietnam) for anti-inflammatory and anti-cancer treatment.
This research was carried out to further investigate the anti-inflammatory ability of
the plant extract based on the anti-microbial activity against several pathogenic
pathogens, which partially linked to inflammatory skin infection. The research was
aimed to study more applications of the plant. MIC value for Staphylococcus aureus
was found to be between 15.6 mg/mL and 7.6 mg/mL while that for Salmonella
typhimurium was between 31.2 mg/mL and 15.6 mg/mL. Significant difference
(p<0.05) in inhibitory activity was recorded from high concentration to low
concentration of plant ethanol extract (from 250 mg/mL to 15.625 mg/mL) in
Staphylococcus aureus inhibition. However, no significant difference (p>0.05) was
recorded with Salmonella typhimurium at 250 mg/mL and 125 mg/mL. This
suggested further purification of the plant extract for better efficiency.
