Biological activity of the paraya extract
Abstract
The aim of study is evaluating in vitro anticancer activity of Carica papaya leaves. In addition, evaluating antioxidant and enzyme inhibitation activities were carried out. This research used chromatography and spectroscopic methods to isolate and indentify fractions and chemical constituents. Β-sitosterol , Stigmast-5,22-dien-3-O-β-glucopyranoside and sub-fraction CPT4.1 were collected. Moreover, Alpha-glucosidase inhibition assay was used for enzyme inhibition assay on Beta –sitosterol, Stigmast-5,22-dien-3-O-β-glucopyranoside and subfraction CPT4.1, DPPH Radical Scavening Assay was used for evaluating antioxidant activity and Sulforhodamine B colorimetric assay was used for test in vitro anticancer on extracts, sub-fraction and two compounds of C.papaya leaves. For the results, this study confirmed C.papaya leaves has no anticancer activity and enzyme inhibition. However, sub-fraction CPT1 had showed presence significantly of antioxidant activity.
