In this study, the ethanol extract of Pandanus tectorius fruits was used to test acute oral cytotoxicity and hypoglycemic activity of Pandanus tectorius fruits in the management of diabetes mellitus on albino mice. The result indicated that fruits of Pandanus tectorius extract has been shown no acute oral toxicity and its ethanol extract at a dose of 1.6g/kg body weight after 14 days showed significant reduction of blood glucose level and it was also equivalent to the effect of Glibenclamide, anti-diabetic type 2 drug. Especially Pandanus tectorius fruits extract at dose of 0.8 and 1.6 g/kg given orally had effect on regulating blood glucose level in oral glucose tolerance test after 7- 14 days. Furthermore, three compounds including Syringaldehyde, Methyl β-Dfructopyranoside, and Tachioside were purified and identified from ethyl acetate extract of Pandanus tectorius fruits. In the future, this potentially obtained result could pave a way for further studies to investigate the chemical constituents of Pandanus tectorius as well as the hypoglycemic activity of these three compounds. Key words: Pandanus tectorius, hypoglycemic activity, Syringaldehyde, Methyl β-Dfructopyranoside, Tachioside.en_US
