dc.description.abstract | In this study, we investigated the proliferation activity of ethanol, n-hexane, chloroform, ethyl acetate and methanol extracts from Ficus pumila L. leaves on MG-63 human osteoblast-like cell by EZ-Cytox Cell Viability Assay Kit. The result indicated that all extracts had the ability to proliferate MG-63 cells except chloroform extract at the concentration varying from 0.1 to 0.01 μg/ml. In particular, at the concentration of 0.01 μg/ml, ethyl acetate and ethanol extracts illustrated the highest proliferation ratio with percentage of 11.797% and 11.539%, respectively. Moreover, three compounds as taraxerol (FP1), kaempferol 3-O-rutinoside (FP2) and pumiloside (FP5) were purified and identified from ethyl acetate and methanol extracts of F. pumilla leaves, among which pumiloside (FP5) is the new compound that was first isolated from nature. This potentially obtained result could pave a way for further study to investigate the chemical constituents of Ficus pumila L. as well as the proliferation activity of these three compounds on MG-63 human osteoblast-like cell.
