Ethanol extract of P. palatiferum at 400,600 and 800 mg/kg body weight was tested effective for antidiarrhoeal activity in mice. The plants were collected in Tay Ninh province of VietNam. The method of castor oil (0.4 ml/kg) induced diarrhea and also enteropooling assay method of intestinal fluid content was observed after castor oil administration and charcoal meal adsorption. The results effected to reduce the total number of wet stools with the ethanol extract of P. palatiferum 800 mg/kg body weight 41,53% of inhibition and 33,98% inhibition fluid accummalation on the small intestine of mice. It can be concluded that P. palatiferum possesses antidiarrhoeal effect significantly due to its antimotility and antisecretory effect.
