Antioxidant and cytotoxicity activities of glinus oppositifolius
Abstract
Glinus Oppositifolius has been used as anherbal plant and popular cuisine in
the South of Vietnam for a long time. The aim of this study was evaluating
thebiological activities of this traditional plant. In the results, it showed that
there arethree pure compounds including quebrachitol (GO04),apigenin
(GO05), β- Sitosterol-3-O-β-glucopyranoside (GO01) were isolated from the
methanol extract of Glinus Oppositifolius collected in Phu Yen Province of
Vietnam. Their structures were elucidated by NMR (1D and 2D-NMR).
Methanol and ethanol extract were evaluated cytotoxicity against the HepG2
cancer cell line (SRB method, compared to standard Camptothecin with IC50<
0.07 µg/mL) and lung NCI – H460 cancer cell line (SRB method, compared to
standard Camptothecin with IC50< 0.01 µg/mL) which resulted to have a low
cancer cell line. Moreover, the antioxidant of 3 pure compounds and plant
extracts (GHex, GEt and GMet) also carried out to compare the antioxidant
activity with sample curve (Vitamin C).
