Research on the aquarium substrate formulation for aquatic plants
Abstract
The thesis title “Research on the aquarium substrate formulation for aquatic plants” was carried out from February 2016 to June 2016 in order to : (1) study on the detail of substrate formulation for aquatic plants in the aquarium, (2) study on the effectiveness of artificial substrate for aquatic plants.
The study on substrate formulation for aquatic plants in the aquarium was conducted by a survey at ten aquarium shops and five farms in HCM and Binh Duong city to find out six common aquatic plants and one commom best seller substrate as a control named Red High Land. Three substrates formulations were constructed based on the survey results of common methods for substrate construction in the market named substrate 2, substrate 3 and substrate 4.
The result of the study on the effectiveness of substrates has found out 3 substrates with better growth rate for different aquatic plants. The control substrate supplies the best growth rate for aquatic plant as Bacopa carolinians (1.18g/day), Ceratophyllum demersal (1.14g/day), Rotala wallachia (0.64g/day). The substrate 3 supply the best growth rate for aquatic plant as for Limnophila sessile flora (0.92g/day). The substrate 4 supply the best growth rate for aquatic plant as Cabomba carolinians (1.01g/day), Myriophyllum tuberculatum (0.67g/day).
The study helps to find out the reasonable cost substrates with the effectiveness for aquarium design.
