dc.description.abstract | Biomethane production is influenced by many factors such as waste sources, nutrient contents and inoculum. The most important factor in biomenthanization is the biodegradable organic matter content of the source material, which is expressed as the carbon to nitrogen to phosphorus ratio (C:N:P). This study was designed to evaluation the feasibility of anaerobic digestion of the shrimp and fish sludge and to evaluate the influence of nutrient ratio and salinity on methane yield. Anaerobic digestion conditions were S:I (solid: inoculum) 2:1, TS (total solid percentage) 24%, mesophilic temperature for 20 days. The methane production of shrimp sludge are higher than fish shrimp. Among five C:N:P ratios, C:N:P ratio of 130:5:1 showed maximum yield of methane (1.069 NL) in a half day. Carbon is the main factor affecting the process of methane release. Shrimp sludge with high salinity (over 0.742 NL) inhibited the biomenthanization of inoculum. Obviously, aquaculture sludge, and shrimp sludge in particular, had a potential in biomethane production.
