Analysis of abiotic tolerant ability of Arabidopsis transgenic plants overexpressing 35S:GmNACO85
Abstract
Drought and salinity are the major abiotic stress factors that negatively affect plant growth and productivity. According to previous study, GmNAC085 gene is considered as the most prominent drought-inducible GmNAC gene. In this study, the physiological characteristics of Arabidopsis transgenic plants overexpressing 35S:GmNAC085 were evaluated under drought and salinity stress conditions in order to examine the role of GmNAC085 in plants response to these stresses. Physiological parameters used for the assessment include survival rate for drought stress experiment, bleaching rate and root growth assays for salinity stress experiment. The results of this study showed that the tolerance of Arabidopsis transgenic plants overexpressing 35S:GmNAC085 was better than the non-transgenic wild-type plants under drought stress and as same as the wild-type under salinity stress condition.
