Study of Vietnamese phonetics

Abstract

This senior project does the research in Vietnamese phonetics. It contains the theory of Vietnamese phonetic system, shows the analyzed result of the pitch and the formant of 7 vowels, 6 tones, and the contribution of consonant and vowels in a word. The database is built by the voice of 7 chosen people speaking different dialects and is recorded in the same environment that has less noise. Recording equipment is not the best quality. To illustrate the results, I use a Matlab GUI. The GUI can record voice or load the recorded data, then display the amplitude, the spectrogram.
