dc.description.abstractaim of this study is to evaluate the antiobesity and lipid-lowering effects of Lactobacillus Plantarum on high fat diet-induced obese mice. Mice were divided into three groups which were SD/SD group – fed standard diet, HFD/HFD group – fed high fat diet, and HFD/LAB group – fed high fat diet with LAB supplement. After 4 weeks, the body weight, plasma lipid level, liver weight, and liver tissues were evaluated. Comparing to the high fat diet group, the result of data showed that Lactobacillus Plantarum reduced the body weight gain, the total cholesterol levels, and the number of lipid droplets in obese mice. In addition, the result of RT-PCR indicated that the lipid metabolism-related gene, fatty acid synthase (FAS) and lipoprotein lipase (LPL) were detected only in HFD/HFD group comparing to SD/SD and HFD/LAB groups. In conclusion, Lactobacillus Plantarum can be a beneficial probiotic in antiobesity effects. Key words: Lactobacillus Plantarum, obesity, body weight, plasma lipid levels, LPL, FAS.en_US
