dc.description.abstract | This study was conducted to evaluate the possibility of using the effluent from harvested shrimp ponds to promote bioflocs for the rearing of Penaeus vannamei post larvae. Post larvae performance, water quality and Vibrio densities were compared across the three biofloc treatments: (ICB) disinfected by iodine and inoculated with Bacillus strains, (IC) disinfected by iodine and (C) no disinfection of input water through a 28-day experiment. Results showed that the ICB treatment had the highest survival rate (91.81%) of post larvae and floc volume (16 mL.L-1). Furthermore, more both TAN concentration (0.5-1 mg.L-1) and Vibrio density (<103 cfu.mL-1) remained lower in this treatment compared with the others throughout the experimental period.
