Applying good management practices (GMP) for the pilot ornamental fish farms in Long An province
Abstract
The thesis titled “Applying Good Management Practices (GMP) for the pilot ornamental fish farms in Long An Province” has been carried out at 5 ornamental fish farms in Long An Province to evaluate the current state, the weakness as well as to suggest better management practice solutions.
The study has involved into 20 groups of issues finding out based the pre-assessment of GMP requirements and surveying the current state of five ornamental fish farms in Long An. Such issues include general information, species composition, production system and scale, human resources, equipment and facilities, environment, drugs and chemicals, fish disease, and breeding production. From those, the study was summarized into five group’s solution equivalent to 26 specific solutions. Based on the pre-assessment of GMP requirements for the five ornamental fish farms, three potential farms were selected with at least 45% criteria of GMP for assessment the possibility to implement of suggested solutions.
The result of the study was evaluated the ability to implement solutions and proposed one ornamental fish production farm (farm 1 – Thien Bao) with enough capable and conditions (no serious errors and less than 15% total solutions evaluation) to be recognized GMP.
The study will be able to help the ornamental fish farming improving effectively and stability as well as the first step for sustainable development of the pilot ornamental fish farms in Long An Province.
