dc.description.abstract | Ngoc Linh ginseng (Panax Vietnamensis Ha et Grushv) grown at highland of Central Vietnam is known as precious species with high pharmaceutical compositions. In this study, the Ngoc Linh ginseng grown in Kom Tum province was used to investigate the total saponin, total phenolic, total flavonoid and amounts of Rb1 and MR2 of the extracts obtained under different extraction conditions (ethanol concentrations of 25% and 75% and extraction temperatures of 30oC and 80oC). The appropriate ethanol concentration and temperature for extracting the highest total saponin content in the extract (5.42 mg Oleanolic acid equivalent/g sample) high contents of Rb1 and MR2 ginsenosides (879.18 ppm and 680.37 ppm, respectively) was ethanol concentration of 75% and 80oC, respectively. At this condition, total phenolic and flavonoid contents were 7.83 mg Gallic acid equivalent/g sample and 6.75 mg Rutin equivalent/g sample. The saponin-rich extract then was used for development of energy drink and orally disintegrating tablets (ODTs). Energy drink from Ngoc Linh ginseng was stored at different storage temperatures (room temperature and 4oC) and pH values (3, 3.5 and 4). While storage temperature had dominant influence on shelf-life of energy drink and 4oC was achieved as optimal temperature for long period of storage, pH values did not have significant effects on shelf-life of energy drink from Ngoc Linh ginseng after 28 days. In addition, the appearance of corn starch with 10% of concentration in formulation of ODTs from extracted Ngoc Linh ginseng showed the fastest disintegrating and wetting time, the lowest hardness and friability related to the highest total saponin content after direct compression.
