dc.description.abstract | High inventory and long leadtime are always large issues for any manufacturing company
at all times regardless of manual operation or automatically production company. When
the performance and productivity of the production system are the basis to be ensured and
continuously improve, the main tasks in every production line are eliminate the wastes in
production including reducing the leadtime, minimizing the cost for inventory cost and
utilize all the resources of the manufacturing site. To achieve that, this thesis is aimed to
use the applications of simulation and some lean tools, namely the kanban system and
value stream mapping (VSM), as well as focus on the perspective of Just-in-time
production. It is hoped the case study can improve the situation at company X, which is a
semi-automatically mechanical manufacturing company.
