A scheduling model for job shop operation with machine buffer
Abstract
This thesis presents a integer linear model which can be used to schedule for job shop operation with machine buffer. The thesis researches in real job shop manufacturing system with collected data for result checking. The model considers groups of paralel machines which have their own feeding buffers with limited capacity for both of them. Orders consist of a number of discrete units to be produced and follow one of a given number of processing routes. Good solution was obtained when using Cplex optimizer program to solve realistic scheduling problem to get optimal solution. The result claimed that more than 50% of machines are fully utilized with high efficiency in using resources (machine, buffer). Consideration of a flow shop system also included to inspired for further research.
