dc.description.abstract | The aim of this research work was to study the removal of Cadmium ion Cd(II) and methylene blue (MB) dye from aqueous solution using unmodified and NaOH 0.1M-treated tea leave waste. The optimal condition for removal of heavy metal ion using unmodified tea leave waste was found to be at pH 5, 30 mg/L initial metal ion concentration, 0.25 g adsorbent, 60 min shaking at 200 rpm. The maximum adsorption for MB was reached at pH 6, 300 mg/L concentration, 0.25 g adsorbent, 60 min, and 200 rpm mixing rate. Modified adsorbent gave better removal yield for Cd(II) over unmodified one but the modification did not seem to be effective in enhancing the removal of MB. The contact time batch revealed that the adsorption occurred immediately after mixing with about 80% adsorbate removal after 1 min.
