Isolation and identification of fungal diseases in rice (Oryza sativa) from mekong delta
Abstract
Fungal diseases in rice (Oryza sativa) from Mekong Delta is one of the most popular diseases in rice nowadays. Collecting samples from several provinces in the Mekong Delta were analyzed for fungal diseases. This study will provide information on the identification of fungal diseases in rice exactly and reliable. Using PCR technique (Polymerase Chain Reaction) which is a new and common technique in identification the impact of plant disease due to saving time, reliable, high accuracy, and find out the impact of diseases right in the initial stage plant just contamination. Identification most fungal strains taken from collected samples based on using PCR with primer ITS (both known and unknown fungi which means new strains) and showed the degree of similarities with each fungus such as Curvularia lunata, Aspergillus versicolor. From this such contamination can probably be linked to or can help to prevent and give a solution to storage after harvesting and while growing. Samples of this study was collected from An Giang province with 128 samples. From those, experimenter isolated and purified into 132 strains and distinguished into 14 groups of fungi with different morphology and colors. All 14 groups have gone through microscopic observation and identification by ITS region. Then, three isolated strains (strain AG4, AG10, AG13) has been sequenced. Strain AG 4 was identified as Curvularia lunata, strain AG10 was identified as Aspergillus versicolor, and AG 13 was identified as Curvularia sp.
