Simulation And Application Of Lean Six Sigma In Business Process: A Case Study In Precision Tooling Service Company
Abstract
In the service industry, one of the biggest problems that enterprises are facing at the moment
is the long processing time between stages. Stages that are likely to be affected by long
processing time are inventory process, manufacturing process… especially the sales process.
In the sales process, from the customer point of view, the time when customers start to contact
the company until they finally receive the products usually takes longer than what they expect.
It can lead to some concerns in terms of delaying orders, which results in customer
dissatisfaction. Therefore, in order to tackle the unwanted consequence of long processing time,
many methods such as lean, six sigma, simulation, … are widely applied nowadays. This thesis
is aimed to use the applications of simulation, DMAIC method, and some lean tools, namely
the VSM, SIPOC, Project charter. It is hoped the case study can improve the situation at Van
Phu Thanh’s company, which is a precision tooling service company.
