dc.description.abstract | The integrated Quay Crane, Yard Truck and Yard Crane scheduling problem is a very
important problem at container terminals that has considerable impact on world’s port
operation as it tackles the optimization and synchronization of all major operations and
scheduling of port equipment. This thesis will take into account the integrated container
unloading process and a case study of Tan Cang – Cat Lai Terminal to solve the according
scheduling problem with the purpose of minimizing the maximum completion time. The
problem is formulated and benchmarked with Cplex program in small-sized problems. In
addition, a meta-heuristic called Grey Wolf Optimizer (GWO) is implemented based on the
algorithm’s discrete version. Data sets collected from the case study will be used to execute
the coding under GWO approach through Matlab R2019a, the outcome of which is then
benchmarked with the former method to evaluate their performance. The results indicate
that both methods produce good solutions to the problem while maintaining their own
distinct advantages. GWO algorithm can be applied well to big-sized problems since Cplex
is able to handle problems with such precision in preferred small-size instances in
particular. | en_US |
