Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Inventory For International University And Propose Solutions For Reducing Energy Consumption And GHG Emissions
Abstract
This research is conducted for the energy consumption and GHG emissions inventory
in IU buildings over the time period from 2019 to 2030. The collection of data related
to electricity consumption is provided by the Office of Facility Development and Office
of Procurement Services. This research uses the AIM/Enduse model for calculating the
level of electricity consumption as well as CO2 emissions in A1 and A2 buildings on IU
campus with distinct scenarios: base year, 2030BAU and 2030CM scenarios. The
difference of three scenarios is the share of using technologies, which means that the
transfers from conventional to advanced technologies are assumed in IU buildings in the
near future so as to reduce the energy consumption and mitigate the GHG emissions.
The results show that IU buildings can save nearly 1.5 billion VND annually from saving
13% of electricity consumption and achieve a reduction of 13% in CO2 emissions due
to the replacement of electrical devices.
