Discrete Event Simulation Of Warehouse Operation For Improving Product Storage And Resource Planning: A Case Study Of Logoplaste Vietnam
Abstract
Nowadays, warehousing is the significant requirement for most of the business such as
manufacturer, import, export, and transfer goods. The operation of warehouse influences
the value-additions and customer satisfy. Many types of research are evidenced that
awareness of warehouse layout and management policies can upgrade the efficiency in the
operations. This thesis is inspired by the case of Logoplaste company’s warehouse in Binh
Duong, Vietnam, which produces plastic bottles. As facing with decreasing efficiency at
warehouse department, the company is looking for solution to eliminate weaknesses in
warehouse current operations. Discrete event simulation is performed in this study to
support the company to identify and avoid the problem indicator ascending. The case study
simulation model is conducted by Arena Simulation Software, with all data from the
company. The result is required the accuracy of the simulation model to the real system.
Several cases and experiments are proposed to present the ideas of improving the
disadvantages of the system. As the result, factors that effects the warehouse inbound
process and outbound process, as well as workforce utilization were identified and
progressed.
