Warehouse Layout Design With The Multi-Deep Lane Storage System A Case Study Of Tbs Company
Abstract
Nowadays, warehousing is the essential requirement for most of the business with specific
purposes such as manufacturer, import, export and transfer goods. The operation of the
warehouse influences the value-additions and customer satisfaction. Many types of research
are evidence of awareness of warehouse layout design, storage systems, and storage policies
that can increase the storage efficiency and surface efficiency of the warehouse.
This thesis is applied to the case of TBS company's warehouse in Binh Duong, Vietnam,
which has a warehouse rental service. As facing with COVID situation and current
warehouse layout made a decrease in storage efficiency and surface efficiency of the TBS
warehouse, the company is looking for an optimal solution to redesign and eliminate the
weaknesses in the current warehouse layout.
The Optimization model for the Multi-deep lanes storage system is performed in this study
to support the company to find out the optimal layout for the TBS company's warehouse
and avoid the problem indicator ascending. This case study is conducted by the optimization
model and executed by MATLAB Software, then designing new warehouse layout basing
on the Systematic Facility Layout Planning theories with all data from the company.
The result has required the optimization of the model for surface efficiency and storage
efficiency to the real storage system. Several cases and experiments are proposed to present
the improving the weakness of the current layout or the current storage system of the
warehouse. As the result, the factors that affect the current warehouse layout, as well as the
surface efficiency and storage efficiency was identified and executed
