Solving A Stochastic Assembly Line Balancing Problem: A Case Study Of Textile And Garment Company
Abstract
The purpose of this study is to analyze the Assembly Line Balancing problems, a topic
that attracted a significant amount of attention from researchers recently, in order to
solve the uncertainties in demand, stochastic cycle time with the purpose of increasing
the capacity, improving production layout. Be sides that, eliminating some non-valued
added tasks to improve the productivity. In this study, two main garment products in
GILIMEX – one of the companies leading in Textile and Garment industry - were
deeply studied and analyzed the data to conduct optimal model by which generates
solutions using an optimization software called CPLEX and Microsoft Excel. The
results obtained from the operational data of the company are analyzed and
recommendations are made regarding the Assembly line’s layout for different purposes
in improvement.
