Determine application of caulerpa lentillifera in cosmetics
Abstract
In this study, Caulerpa Lentillifera was extracted to utilize as a plant material to
determine their properties to apply as an organic cosmetic products, especially
antioxidants activity. Three tests including the Folin-Ciocalteu method to evaluate
TPC, the aluminum chloride colorimetric approach to determine TFC, and DPPH test
were performed to prove and calculate the antioxidant capacity of Caulerpa
Lentillifera. Its TPC, TFC, and DPPH scavenging capacity (IC50) were 6.75 ± 0.44 μg
GAE/mg extract, 4.6 ± 0.32 μg QE/mg, and 27.3 mg/ml, respectively. The data
showed the antioxidants activity of Caulerpa Lentillifera which can apply and develop
in the future. Moreover, AOAC 992.06 method was carried out to determine the
amount of vitamin A (Retinol) and the value of Beta Carotene which were 158 RE and
0.20 mg/ 100g, in turn. Lastly, their moisturizer was calculated with 94.9% by EVNR-RD-2-TP-3496 technique
