Study On Cytotoxicity And Phytochemical Composition Of The Ethyl Acetate Extract From Macrosolen Tricolor
Abstract
Some species of the Macrosolen genus have been shown to possess important
biomedical properties, including cytotoxic activity. In this study, we examined the
cytotoxic effect of ethyl acetate extract from Macrosolen tricolor in human cancer
cell lines of MDA-MB-231 and RD by using MTT assay. The most cytotoxic fraction
MTE.I (IC50 value of 4.00 µg/mL and 5.53 µg/mL with MDA-MB-231 and RD cell lines,
respectively) was applied to Column Chromatography to afford two pure compounds
MTE01 and MTE02. By using nuclear magnetic resonance experiments (1D and 2D
NMR), the structures of MTE01 and MTE02 were verified as 4α,5α-
dihydroxybisabola-2,10-diene-9-one (bisacurone A) and 3-O--Dglucopyranosylstigmast-5-ene (β-Sitosterol 3-O--D-glucoside),
respectively.
