dc.description.abstract | Knowledge management in organizations has become a critical topic for firms
to enable the circular of information and knowhow and legitimize the power of strategic
resources. A decisive process in this operation is the dissemination of knowledge among
internal associates. Knowledge sharing then becomes a popular topic in the corporate as
well as academic world. In Viet Nam, many scholars also recognize the importance of
knowledge sharing and study to explore its theory and application in this developing
economy. Numerous efforts have been spent on investigating the motivation, attitude, and
intention to perform knowledge sharing. Yet, there are still research gaps lying on the
connection among these factors, and the way they ultimately influence knowledge sharing
behavior among employees. To fill in the gap, this study focuses on investigating an
integrativefmodel of knowledgefsharing behavior.
The study is conducted in three knowledge-intensive business sectors in Ho Chi
Minh city, including professional service firms, e-commerce firms and telecommunication
firms. The sample surveyed 232 employees in these companies and used the SEM model
to validate the proposed conceptual framework. The result shows that specific kinds of
motivation, including reciprocal benefits, knowledge self-efficacy, and enjoyment in
helping others positively affect the attitude towards knowledge sharing. This attitude has a
direct influence on the intention to engage in sharing activities, together with subjective
norms and perceived behavioral control. In turn, intention and facilitating conditions are
the significant predictors of knowledge sharing behaviors. This implies that improvement
in encouraging employees, stimulating their socializing, giving them rooms for sharing are
some suggestions to reinforce and strengthen knowledge sharing in the workplace. | en_US |
