dc.description.abstract | The profit and operation cost are always two problems that have a closer relationship with each other.
“How must the company do to earn a big amount of the profit but the cost must be at the lowest level”
is a difficult question to answer with many companies today. In operation cost, main cause of
increasing cost comes from cost of transportation. Following the unsuitable routes makes cost
increase more than the initial plan. To decrease the unnecessary cost, we need to have a saving-cost
supply chain, which is suitable with the circumstance and the condition of the company. Therefore,
in this thesis, an optimal supply chain with backhaul strategy will be a solution to solve the problem
about minimizing the total transportation cost and be applied for a case study of Thinh Phat Dat
Company. This research will introduce a model based on metaheuristic fix-and-optimize method to
find out the most suitable routes, which can satisfy the demand quantity of all location and minimize
the total transportation cost. This case study will be programmed and calculated by the optimization
model and CPLEX Software. Then, it will be compared with the previous approaches to have the best
solution by using real data from the study. The findings have shown that this modern algorithm can
produce better results than heuristic and metaheuristic algorithms and is also capable of providing an
