The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of parameters on the steam distillation to extract pomelo essential oil, including the water/pomelo peel ratio and the distillation time. Subsequently, the collected essential oil was used to produce quality soap that has enhancement in pleasant fragrance as well as possess medicated value from the essential oil. In results essential oil was collected in an efficient way by using the water/pomelo peel ratio of 3/1 and running steam distillation apparatus for 60 minutes. In addition, soap bars, made in the lab with the addition of pomelo essential oil had lightly pleasant citrus aroma. Importantly, entry materials used to make soaps were guaranteed as well as the essential oil soaps were adequate for the TCVN 2224:1991 standards in term of sensory and chemical requirements (free caustic alkali; Iodine value). Total fatty matter is a bit lower than the requirements of the TCVN 2224:1991, however it is still acceptable as grade 2 soap and safe to use according to Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS).en_US
