Solving Problem Of Cargo Congestion By Barging And ICD From Vietnam To China
Abstract
This thesis considers the problems about cargo congestion at ports and the application of
multimodal transportation while ensuring the right demand and time. The thesis is based on
the case of fruits of the Mekong Delta and the only trading market is China through three
ports: Cat Lai, CMIT Cai Mep and Da Nang. The objective is to maximize the profit
quarterly of import-export transaction by minimize the total cost of transportation include
trucking fee and barging fee. In parallel with it, determining the suitable number of
containers to solve congestion is also an important output of the thesis. Linear programming
is the chosen method to optimal the objective value and considering capicity of seaport and
limitation of total number of vehicle. This model is solved by Cplex which is a highperformance mathematical programming solver for linear programming.
