The present study aimed to investigate the effects of dietary lipid ingredients on growth and fatty acid profile in striped catfish (Pangasianodon hypopthalmus). Striped catfish with an initial body weight of 25.8g, randomly allocated in six groups, were fed five different diets (T1, T2, T3, T4, T5) contained various oil ingredients including linseed (LS), soybean oil (SBO), Fish oil (FO), and a commercial feed (T6). After 220 days of the feeding trial, the studied results showed that fish fed the diet (T5) containing 5% dietary LS, and 4% dietary FO received the highest growth performance and high level of essential fatty acids in the whole body and fish fillet. Fish fed dietary LS and FO reflected the high contents of essential fatty acids, such as 19.68% PUFAs, 3.05% HUFAs, 1.43%, DHA, 0.47% EPA, 5.62% ω -3 (C18:3n-3) in the whole body of fish, and 17.78%PUFAs, 3.86% HUFAs, 2.53% DHA, 0.65% EPA, 2.46% ω -3 (C18:3n-3) in the fish fillet. The obtained results suggested that the LS and FO are the potential oil ingredients for striped catfish feed to improve growth and essential fatty acid deposition in fish muscle and fillet.en_US
