Application Of Lean And Jobshop Scheduling On Optimizing Process In Automotive Production: A Casestudy Of A Company In Vietnam
Abstract
The automobile manufacturing company mentioned in paper is an enterprise that invests in
manufacturing and trading cars in Vietnam and other Asian and European countries,
strongly contributing to the growth of the Asian and European market and becoming a key
component in the automotive industry with the production capacity of 5,000 vehicles per
year. However, the company has had a productivity problem. In 2021, at assembly line,
productivity has not reached company’s target. This paper investigates specific problems
through data collection, then uses the Value Chain Mapping method to assess the current
situation. There are some Lean tools such as Fishbone Diagram, Pareto Diagram, FMEA,
etc. to identify the causes of the problem and apply Job shop on workload rebalancing to
optimize completion time in operation.
After applying improvement:
- Cycle time was reduced by 7.13%
- Leadtime was reduced by 2.48%.
Additionally, the study provides an approach, analysis, and waste recognition to eliminate
and develop standardized procedures for similar production lines.
