Solving Storage Assignment And Order Picking Problem: A Case Study Of Gemadept Logistics Company
Abstract
Currently, the supply chain is critical to the success of any organization. Many major
corporations are still concerned about warehouse operations. Warehouse operations that
are efficient may relieve pressure on the whole supply chain. Nonetheless, many businesses
have used antiquated warehouse management methods, resulting in supply chain
bottlenecks. Picking operations are one of the challenges that many experts are interested
in when it comes to warehouse operations. Picking in the improper sequence might raise
warehouse operating costs. To deal with the problem of choosing activities, organizations
must first implement an appropriate storage allocation strategy. This study will use
mathematical models and two metaheuristic approaches, a genetic algorithm and particle
swam optimization, to solve storage assignment and order picking challenges. These
approaches have been tried and proven to handle Gemadept warehouse issues.
