Enhanced Burn Wound Healing In Mice Model Using Low-Level Laser Therapy (Lllt) In Combination With Adjuvant.
Abstract
Burn is an injury to the skin caused by heat or external agents (electricity,
chemicals, radiation). Burns are curable, mild to moderate burns (e.g., boiling water
burns, sunburn) can be treated at home or resolved on their own but must be
combined with treatment and favorable conditions. For severe burns, the structural
layers of the skin are almost destroyed, the healing process will become extremely
complicated and difficult. Burns cause bad effects on damaged skin and can cause
thick scars that are unsightly. Finding a treatment method to shorten the treatment
time, increase the regeneration of new tissue, and at the same time have widespread
popularity and easy to use, is a necessity. Recent studies show that laser has a good
effect on wound healing, minimizing treatment time as well as complications during
treatment.
This study proposed a method of treating third-degree burns on a mouse model
based on the biological effects that occur when laser photons affect the tissue, which
are tissue regeneration, vascular proliferation, aid in wound healing, and in
combination with suitable excipients to shorten the healing time and minimize other
problems (such as infection, necrosis) that may occur during treatment. Rats are
scalded with an automatic burn generator (with parameters set for third-degree burns,
the temperature is 80 degrees Celsius, and the pressure is 40N for 15 seconds). The
laser uses a pulse combination of 650nm, 780nm, and 830nm wavelengths. Excipients
are turmeric cream, which helps to support the wound from becoming infected, and at
the same time reduces the formation of scars after the healing process. The treatment
process took place within 2-3 weeks, with the following dosage: Laser was applied 4
times a week in 2 weeks with 7 treatment sessions, turmeric cream applied daily until
the end of the treatment sessions. The results showed positive results in the treatment
of burns through the combination of Low-level laser therapy and excipients (turmeric
cream). The wound is dry, not infected, the skin around the wound is hairy, and the
wound heals well.
