Enhancing Reverse Logistics Operation In Viettel Post: An Integrated Genetic Algorithm Approach For Cost Reduction And Service Efficiency
Abstract
This research study aims to develop and optimize a reverse logistics system in Viettel
Post, specifically focusing on improving simultaneous pickup and delivery (SPD)
operations. The main objective is to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the
system by employing various methodologies and techniques.
The proposed approach incorporates the use of a genetic algorithm (GA) to optimize
routing and scheduling for SPD, with the goal of reducing transportation costs.
Additionally, the Supply Chain Operations Reference (SCOR) model, the Technique for
Order of Preference by Similarity to the Ideal Solution (TOPSIS), and the Fuzzy
Analytic Hierarchy Process (FAHP) are employed to evaluate the proposed solution.
In this study, the traditional use of discrete-event simulation methodology has been
replaced with the utilization of the K-means algorithm to define clusters for better
management. By categorizing regions based on specific criteria, decision-making and
resource allocation can be more efficient and targeted.
The research methodology incorporates a comprehensive literature review, expert
opinions, and a case study based on real-world data from Viettel Post. This mixed
method approach ensures a robust analysis of the reverse logistics system, considering
both theoretical insights and practical implications.
The findings demonstrate that the proposed approach significantly improves the
efficiency and effectiveness of reverse logistics operations in Viettel Post. The
utilization of GA for SPD leads to a substantial reduction in transportation costs, while
the integration of SCOR, TOPSIS, and FAHP enables a comprehensive evaluation of the
proposed solution's performance.
This study contributes to the body of knowledge by offering insights into the
development and optimization of reverse logistics systems. The integration of GA,
SCOR, TOPSIS, and FAHP provides a promising framework for enhancing transportation efficiency, reducing costs, and improving service quality. These findings
have implications not only for Viettel Post but also for other logistics companies seeking
to enhance their reverse logistics operations.
