dc.description.abstractIn this report, dried breadfruit leaves collected in two months: October and January would be extracted in three different solvents: ethanol, 7 ethanol with 3 water (70% ethanol), and 1 ethanol:1 water (50% ethanol) and tested for sun protection ability. The extraction efficiency for extracts of leaves collected in October would be 18.52±0.69%, 12.4±0.27% and 31.264±1.72% in order of the extract solvents: ethanol, ethanol and water in ratio 7:3, and ethanol and water in ratio 1:1. In addition, the extraction efficiency of the ethanol extract, 70% ethanol extract, and 50% ethanol extract of the leaves collected in January would be orderly 15.81±1.32%, 11.62±1.11%, and 30.38±1.18%. The results of an anti-UV test show that breadfruit leaves extracts have potential in protecting from UV radiation. However, the preventing UV ray ability of most leaves collected in October extracts is higher than the leaves collected in January extracts. Among three types of solvents used for extracting breadfruit leaves, ethanol extracts give the better protection factor data than the other two.en_US
