This project aimed to study phytochemical compositions, and biological activities of Hedera Helix in Vietnam. Methanol extract of Hedera Helix were analyzed for chemical compositions and bioactivities including antidiabetic and antibacterial. Triterpene sapoponin had been identified from Hedera Helix leaf MeOH extract by LC-MS. Three compounds including Hederacoside C, Hederasaponin B and Hederasaponin D were successfully isolated from the Hedera Helix leaves by Medium pressure lipuid chromatography and prep HPLC. Three compounds were structural elucidated by MS, NMR in activity guided approach. The α-glucosidase inhibitory assay was used to test antidiabetic activity by inhibiting the α-glucosidase enzyme, leading to reduce a concentration of glucose absorbance. The result showed that the percentage of inhibition of three compounds is not 50% sufficient to inhibit the α-glucosidase enzyme. The antibacterial activity was also tested by the agar well diffusion method. The MIC results of hederacoside C, Hederasaponin B and Hederasaponin are 4000ppm, 3000ppm, 3000ppm on Staphylococcus aureus and 3000ppm, 3000ppm, 3000ppm on Pseudomonas aeuroginos, respectively. Hence, there are weak activities on three above tritepene saponins.en_US
