Investigation Of Bacterial And Viral Infection In Tilapia (Oreochromis Sp.) And Asian Seabass (Lates Calcarifer) Cultured In Vietnam
Abstract
With the aim of providing a scientific database and an overview of the pathogens
that mono-infected and co-infected tilapia (Oreochromis sp.) and Asian seabass
(Lates calcarifer) cultured in Vietnam, samples were collected in Ha Noi, Hai
Duong, Hai Phong, Hue, Cam Ranh, Khanh Hoa, Vinh Long, Ben Tre, and Soc
Trang. Bacterial pathogens are isolated by TSA with or without 1.5% NaCl, RS,
TCBS, MA, and EIM. We have identified 76 bacterial pathogens from 49 tilapia
samples and 120 on 65 seabass samples. The primary bacterial pathogens
isolated from Asian seabass were Vibrio harveyi, Vibrio vulnificus and
Photobacterium damselae damselae, while Bacillus cereus and Streptococcus
agalactiae were the major bacterial pathogens found on tilapias. There were three
seabass samplesshowing the appearance of ISKNV, and no virus pathogens were
found on tilapia.
