Passiflora Foetida Linn (P. Foetida) is owned as a typical traditional herb for treating anti-anxiety and insomnia. Although there have been a few studies on the application of P. Foetida in medicine, such as antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, or pain relief, its role in the application of sedative and anti-anxiety treatment in Vietnam remained underexplored or has been modestly studied and thus requires them to be scientifically validated. This work mainly focuses on the total extract of the dried sample with Ethanol, and both qualitative and quantitative analyses of the leaf extract were carried out. Lastly, the ethanolic section was evaluated in mice by elevated plus maze (EPM) evaluated the ethanolic extract in mice. Specifically, the total flavonoid content was determined using aluminum chloride, whereas the total phenolic content was assessed using the Folin-Ciocalteu assay. Meanwhile, the anti-anxiety activity of the plant extracts was evaluated using an elevated plus maze (EPM). As a result, the preliminary phytochemical screening indicated the presence of saponin and alkaloids in the ethanolic P. Foetida extract. In contrast, phenolic compounds and flavonoids were not present. Next, the total phenolic compound content was 177.3 ± 0.35 (mg GAE/g dried extract), indicating a medium level of phenolic compounds in the plant extract. The total flavonoid content was 61.15 ± 0.884 (mg QE/ g dried extract). Finally, EPM affected SWISS mice but at a slight level, and the ethanolic extract was expected to have anti-anxiolytic properties at higher doses.en_US
