In Silico Discovery Microsatellite Markers In Gayal (Bos Frontalis)
Abstract
Gayal (Bos frontalis) is a hybrid of wild gaur and domestic cattle giving great
value to agriculture in Vietnam along with the economics, which is now classified as
endangered bovine species differing from domestic cattle such as Bos
Taurus and Bos indicus. However, its genetic background remains unclear. Based on
the database platform, we found the assembled genome is about 3.00 Gb with
scaffold and contig N50 sizes of 1 Mb and 28.7 kb, respectively. In this research, in
silico approach had been used to identify 350,119 microsatellite sequences found
from the Gayal genome (Bos frontalis) by using MISA algorithm to search for
different motifs of MSs. We then analyzed different statistics on those sequences
with other species such as Bubalus Bubalis and perform primer design with in silico
PCR to characterize the uniqueness of each STR. The result provides a useful
resource for further genetic studies and finding polymorphism of Gayal on wild gaur.
Deeper genetic studies to characterize the role of each STR in the conservation of
this species are important for future research.
